Google and Temasek to invest $350 million in Indonesian ecommerce giant Tokopedia: Report
Alphabet Inc.’s Google and Singapore’s state investment firm, Temasek Holdings Pte have agreed to invest $350 million in one of Indonesia’s biggest e-commerce companies, Tokopedia, a report from Bloomberg states. Tokopedia is one of Indonesia’s biggest e-commerce companies and also one of its most valuable startups along with Gojek. The Indonesian e-commerce company is said to have approached world’s biggest internet corporations such as Facebook Inc., Amazon.com Inc., and Microsoft Corp in the past. Back in 2018, America’s Walmart acquired a huge controlling share of India’s largest e-commerce company, Flipkart. The $16 billion Walmart-Flipkart deal remains the world’s biggest e-commerce deal.
