Paris-based edtech OpenClassrooms raises $80 million, partially backed by Zuckerberg

Paris-based edtech OpenClassrooms has raised $80 million in their third round and saw participation from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, a project Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg established with his wife Priscilla Chan in 2015. The round also saw participation from Lumos Capital, GSV Ventures, and Salesforce Ventures. Founded in 2012, OpenClassrooms is an edtech platform that counts over 1,000 online courses, 1 million members, and approximately 3 million users vising the platform each month. To date, the firm has raised $149.7 million with investors including General Atlantic, Alven, Bpifrance, Citizen Capital, and the omnipresent Xavier Niel. “The additional capital we’re raising today will allow OpenClassrooms to increase its impact by allowing even more individuals to access affordable upskilling and reskilling programs, at a global level”, commented OpenClassrooms in a statement.
